Extended maceration has enabled beautiful ageing of this wine - a rare find!
Grapes: Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc
The vineyards were originally planted by Stanko's grandfather Franz Mikulus with the local favorite, the Ribolla Gialla grape. In 1948, Stanko's parents, who had inherited the property from his mother's father, planted Merlot, Tocai Friulano and Pinot Grigio. Today, son Sasa maintains the family's land as his father Stanko has now passed away.
In a pursuit of complete 'naturalness' in his wines - grapes are harvested by hand, extended skin maceration occurs and fermentations occur in large, old barrels without temperature control. No yeast/enzymes or sulphur is added to the wines.
