Sopron, Hungary, Austria
Savoury, textural with limestone influences.
Grapes: Furmint Tokaji
Peter Wetzers’ winery can be found in the tiny town of Sopron, located in the far northwest of Hungary. Sopron is the former capital of todays Burgenland of Austria. It is therefore no wonder that the traditional grape varieties, Kekfrankos (Blaufrankisch) and Furmint, take center stage.
With minimal intervention, Peter produces unfiltered, unfined and barely sulphured examples of his country’s native grapes with both structure and generosity that emulate their origin.
