This grape has two homes - originally the SW of France (Cahors, Bordeaux) & more recently in the Argentinian region of Mendoza. Both produce very different styles: French Malbec is inky in colour with notes of tart plums, blackberries, a meaty savouriness, with firm grippy tannins. Meanwhile, in Argentina, its far more easy going & fruit-forward with a velvety texture.
